The Golden Ratio and Perfect Proportions for the Male Body
Beauty in the the human form is closely correlated to, if not defined by, the golden ratio. It should be no surprise then that the perfect proportions for the male body would also be related to the Golden Ratio. I recently reviewed a new body-building and exercise program called “Adonis Golden Ratio.” I was impressed with not only its legitimate application of the golden ratio in defining the ideal proportions of the male physique, but also the research and methods developed to help men achieve this ideal.
The system is based on the concept that ideal male proportions occur when the circumference of the shoulders to that of the waist is a golden ratio. Men’s suits sizes are generally based on the circumference of the chest, which results in a smaller ratio. An example of ideal build then would be a 48″ shoulder measurement with a 30″ waist measurement.
Do you now look more like the Pillsbury Dough Boy than Michelangelo’s David? No problem. The Adonis Golden Ratio system is customized to meet the needs of any man no matter what his condition when he starts the program. The program makes it clear that this is not your average body building program, and that the look that you want for optimal health and attractiveness is not what you often see in muscle-building magazines. It’s more about achieving the way your body was designed to look. As they put it, “think Muscle Beach 1940, not Wrestle Mania.” Adonis includes a software application that considers your current height, weight, waist, and shoulder measurements, age and available exercise time as inputs and then creates a custom program to progress you towards your own ideal physique. It provides instructions on diet, exercise and weight training that change as you progress through the program.
The concepts behind the program appeared in an article called The Perfect Body Formula in Men’s Health Magazine in 2008 but the program has apparently been released only recently in this bundle of software, books and DVD’s and is being offered at a very low price. your bones are good, you just need to fill in some muscle.

Very good post. Applying the Adonis Golden Ratio is the best way for men to get in shape.

Not taken into consideration even that type of musculature with a reason we go to quite low body fat percentage allows for the muscle to be closer to the surface of the dermal layers or subsequently less subcutaneous insulation this can be a pain because is the garment you’re referring to all or any of your golden rules refer to clothing that fits with Style and comfort that looks good that conforms to the same body when moving for a short to moderate period of time because muscle and gorgeous through oxygenation and this is simply through movement now you have different dimensions in particular and dependent on the activity intensity and duration because quite quickly all these factors can be thrown out perspiration musculature as opposed to fat is living tissue that requires to be fed and cool it’s cooling mechanism is perspiration it’s intermediate immediate source of food is blood glucose and in the presence of oxygen you have more of a mechanism then the static lump but you simply measure shoulders to waist ratio for a golden number maybe for a statue not for a living human. Clothing constraints or the stuff of struttin?

Robin, This is longest run on sentence in the world. I’m an M.D. and your vocabulary wasn’t used correctly. Less subcutaneous insulation which is just fat under the skin is in by no means a pain. It’s healthy and it’s definitely what people want compared to its opposite choice. Lastly, clothing has nothing to do with it. They’re just taking about body composition.

Robin, Why would you consider having a low BMI a pain? Be grateful! Listen to Dr Jake! I’m a woman of 66 yrs. I know what women like to look at. In fact, my boyfriend is 19, has zero subcutaneous fat, has the Adonis Golden Ratio and isn’t even aware. HA!! And boy is it HOT! Trust me this is NOT A PAIN! It’s a feast for the eyes. He’s 5’9” and looks like Michealangelo’s David. He’s not a muscle-bound freak. He’s got the ratio….oh boy, does he ever! Thanks Dr Jake for teaching us about this. It’s very cool stuff. I hope you’ve YouTubed this, doc. Much appreciated.

A list of the proportion ratios would be nice, like height to waist, height to upper arm, height to lower arm (girls go crazy for strong lower arms and calves), height to chest, height to arm length, heigth to thigh, height to leg length…
To really have a possibility to calculate and to know where one is currently standing and to have a good foundation for making the choice and the necesary commitment
